Role Overview
Cover Supervisors supervise whole classes during the short‑term absence of teachers. The primary focus is to maintain good order and keep students on task while giving instructions for the lesson as provided by a teacher. The role does not involve planning, preparation, delivery, assessment, recording or reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise student behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Deliver lesson instructions and support class activities as directed by the teacher.
- Provide general feedback to teachers and respond to general questions.
- Adhere to all relevant child protection, safeguarding and safety procedures.
Essential Qualifications
- A level or Level 3 equivalent in English and Maths.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree desirable.
Essential Experience
- Understanding of relevant educational policies, codes of practice and legislation.
- Good working knowledge of ICT to support learning.
- Ability to apply behaviour management policies and strategies that contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
