- Apprentice Library Assistant – Fleetwood Library
- 37 hours per week
- Temporary for 2 years from start date
What You'll Be Doing:
As an Apprentice Library Assistant, you'll support the delivery of a high-quality library and information service. This includes:
- Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.
- Supporting in the planning and delivery of events (e.g. author events, class visits).
Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer focused service.
As an apprentice, you will work with a team in offering a high-quality library and information service and you will support the planning and the delivery of a diverse range of events and activities. You will support and encourage customers to access online information and resources, for example accessing free eBooks and newspaper apps or helping someone find reliable information, such as applying for a passport.
Apprentices will have the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the Library Service and receive appropriate training and support to assist in the provision of an efficient and effective library service. You will work towards gaining the work-based qualification in Library, information and archive services assistant / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education in a timely manner.
Sometimes, you will need to work at other locations, and the role may involve some lone working.
Interview process:
The interview process will be in two parts:
- Part 1 - All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an information session. This will last about 1 hour and involve:
- A meeting with a manager
- Tour of the library and explanation of duties
- Part 2 - All applicants attending the information sessions will be invited for interview.

Please note the salary quoted for this position is the full time equivalent. These positions are part time, therefore, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.
