Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint four Elective Home Education (EHE) Support Workers to join their Inclusion Service. The EHE team is situated within the Specialist Teaching Service along with the Alternative Provision Team providing early intervention support to promote inclusion. The EHE team currently consists of one EHE lead, five EHE support workers and 1 EHE Teacher (5.4 FTE). The team work to ensure suitable education is in place and to offer support for home-educated children and their families.
The role will consist of:
- You will champion home-educated children and young people, being the main point of contact for families who have chosen to home educate.
- Holding an extensive caseload providing support and guidance to families regarding Elective Home Education.
- Administrative responsibilities in line with case load management, including use of ICT systems for reporting and recording purposes.
- Support parents / carers to understand the EHE responsibilities and processes.
- Conduct home visits where required to understand educational provision in place.
- Attend multi agency meetings and contribute to wider plans in place for children and young people.
- This role is a hybrid role, mainly working from home and supporting families across Lancashire.
- You will review referrals into the service and ensure appropriate education is in place and understand interfacing Admission and Child Missing Education processes.
- Develop knowledge of EHE legislation and duties for internal LCC services, schools and wider partners.
- Visit schools to work in a preventative way to promote inclusion and support reasonable adjustments whilst children and young people are on a school roll.
- Using your knowledge of other agencies (e.g. Children's Social Care, SEND, Youth Offending Teams, CAMHS) to signpost and support families to access services.
- Using IT effectively to support your role.
