Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint twelve Education Inclusion Workers to join their service within The Alternative Provision Team, situated within the Specialist Teaching Service, providing early intervention support to promote inclusion. The Alternative Provision Team currently consists of two Alternative Provision Leads, one Education Inclusion Officer (increasing to three) and a Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Officer. The team work across Section 19 of the Education Act 1996 to ensure suitable education is in place for children and young people.
The role will consist of:
- You will champion education inclusion for children and young people.
- Hold a caseload, providing support and guidance to schools, young people and families.
- Conduct home visits to collect the voice of the child and discuss suitable education provision.
- Visit schools to work in a preventative way to promote inclusion and support reasonable adjustments whilst children and young people are on a school roll.
- Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to wider plans in place for children and young people.
- Using your knowledge of other agencies (e.g. Children's Social Care, SEND, Youth Offending Teams, CAMHS) to signpost and support families to access services.
- Develop knowledge of education legislation and duties for internal LCC services, schools and wider partners.
- Work with LCC colleagues across Pupil Access, Elective Home Education and Children Missing from Education.
- Work with alternative provision providers to make referrals and carry out quality assurance assessments.
- Administrative responsibilities in line with case load management, including use of ICT systems for reporting and recording purposes.
- Using IT effectively to support your role.
This role is a hybrid role, supporting families across Lancashire, attending LCC sites and other sites where required, and working from home.

- Demonstrating a clear understanding of the education legislation and statutory guidance.
- Demonstrating the ability to prioritise workload.
- Demonstrating commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
