Join Lancashire County Council as a Driver Attendant or Passenger Assistant and help ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) get to school safely. As part of our large team of Driver Attendants and Passenger Assistants you will transport our passengers in a caring manner, helping them prepare for the journey, move to and from the vehicle, and use the required safety equipment.

Role

Various working patterns are available and range from 15 to 30 hours per week. Our roles are primarily term-time only however there are also a limited number of 52-week positions and casual roles are available. Our Driver Attendants and Passenger Assistants work split shifts allowing you flexibility during the day. Hours of work with focus primarily around school start and finish times. Our teams are based across Lancashire, and we have opportunities to join our teams in:

  • Lancaster and Morecambe
  • Chorley / West Lancashire
  • Preston / South Ribble
  • Fylde and Wyre
  • East (Burnley and surrounding areas)

What We\’re Looking For

We are looking for great team players with excellent customer service skills. You\’ll need to be patient, empathetic, and understand the needs of our service users. To be considered for the Driver Attendant role, you will also need to be a confident driver with a full UK driving licence.

Once you have completed your application form, a member of our team will contact you to book your place at our drop-in interview days, which will be held at your local depot.

This recruitment is ongoing with the majority of roles are due to commence in November 2025 and January 2026.
