Salary £28,142- £32,061 Per annum (Pro Rata) | Permanent, Part Time, 18 and 19 hours per week, term-time only.

This position is part time and term time only; please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.

We are currently recruiting a School Governing Body Advisor to work within Governor Services in the Directorate of Education and Children' Services, working 19 hours per week on a term-time only basis covering Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire. As a School Governing Body Advisor, you will support and advise Volunteer Governors within the Education Sector. The Advisor's key role is to support Governors to fulfil their statutory functions to ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and a strategic direction for their school. This valuable and community-focused position will assist Governors to be accountable for educational performance, the performance of its employees and for the school's financial performance.

In this integral position, you will be arranging, attending, advising, and minuting Governing Body meetings in liaison with the Headteacher and the Chair of Governors as well as providing advice and guidance. What we are looking for…

  • Service Excellence: You'll be focused on delivering service excellence to our customers to provide the right advisory support to fulfil our service level agreements whilst ensuring management deliver their key functions. You will become a critical friend to the board who can prompt and ask the right questions at the right time, assisting Governors in holding schools to account for the actions and decisions which impact children's education including budgetary matters.
  • Collaborative: This role needs an excellent collaborator to work in partnership with an array of disciplines from Human Resources, Pupil Access and more. Your flexible approach will require you to work in a variety of settings in a specific geographical location, so at times you could be in the office, school or at home.
  • Communication: We're seeking someone with a warm personality who is competent in all forms of communication. You'll have a person-centred approach and be able to accurately minute each meeting whilst providing open, honest and professional advice.
