About the Role

The Facilities Management Team at Lancashire County Council is seeking a Casual Cleaning Operative to perform cleaning duties across Lancaster University campus buildings. The role requires flexibility to cover sick leave, holidays, and additional service demands. Having your own transport is an advantage but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming and toilet cleaning.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Conduct deep cleaning of bedrooms, including thorough cleaning of floors, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Previous cleaning experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.

High standards of cleaning are expected and prior experience is desirable; however full training and ongoing support will be provided.
