Westhead Lathom St James’ CE Primary School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring Teaching Assistant Level 2b to join our supportive and hardworking team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential and who can provide high-quality support both in and out of the classroom. Contract Details
- Position: Teaching Assistant Level 2b
- Start Date: 1st September 2026
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 12:00pm
- Contract Type: Permanent, variable hours contract
- Salary: TA2b Scale (dependent on experience and in line with NJC terms and conditions; salary quoted is full time equivalent and will be paid on a pro‑rata basis)

Essential Qualifications
- Held recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills and understanding of supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting.
- Commitment to safeguarding, promoting pupil wellbeing and supporting the Christian ethos of the school.
Desirable Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Paediatric First Aid.
- Additional training or qualifications linked to supporting children with special educational needs, behaviour support or intervention programmes.
- Evidence of continued professional development relevant to primary education.
Essential Experience
- Experience working with primary-aged children, preferably within Key Stage 2.
- Confidence supporting pupils in English and Mathematics and ability to work effectively under the direction of the class teacher.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 2 across a range of abilities and needs.
- Previous experience working within a Breakfast Club or similar childcare provision.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, delivering small-group interventions in English and Mathematics, supporting pupil wellbeing and promoting positive behaviour for learning.
