The Targeted Youth Support team, part of Lancashire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service, is looking to recruit a permanent full-time (37 hours per week) Professional Range Youth Worker to work across the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley District. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organised, and passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.
The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention/early help agenda for Lancashire County Council. It delivers targeted prevention and early intervention work to ensure that young people receive help early and to reduce the need for higher cost specialist intervention. It enables young people to succeed by providing high-quality informal education opportunities to promote their personal and social development. It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities, or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
Responsibilities:- Contribute to the delivery of youth work opportunities in a variety of settings, including youth clubs and in collaboration with schools and other agencies.
- Report to a Team Leader and work closely with other youth work staff and volunteers to maximise opportunities for young people.
- Initiate and develop relationships with 11 to 19 year olds and up to 25 year olds for young people with vulnerabilities by designing and developing youth work responses underpinned by the four cornerstones of youth work: equality, participation, education, and empowerment.
- Focus on vulnerable and at-risk groups to deliver preventative programmes, evidencing learning outcomes and meeting targets.
- Deliver projects and establish new initiatives that develop stimulating and challenging youth work programmes.
- Work in group settings and deliver one-to-one support to identified individuals.
- Record data on a management information system, meet targets, produce reports, and correspond with young people, parents, and partners.
- Deliver face-to-face work in accordance with JNC terms and conditions, including trips, activity days, and residentials.
- Travel across the districts and at times across the county; access to a vehicle is essential.
- Nationally recognised JNC qualification for Youth and Community Workers.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Strong IT, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and partners and to respond flexibly to their needs.
