Salary: £36,363-£40,777 per annum. Fixed term until June 2027. Full time, 37 hours per week (pro rata).

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced social worker to join our Adoption Support Team within Adoption, Lancashire & Blackpool (ALB), a regional adoption agency hosted by Lancashire County Council (LCC). The role will support families affected by adoption across Lancashire and Blackpool, including birth families, adopted adults and children. The position is peripatetic and may involve work within the wider ALB service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one‑to‑one support, training workshops, and social events for birth families and adopted children.
  • Support adopted adults in understanding their early life history.
  • Host and develop Adoption Community peer groups for adopted children, young people and their parents.
  • Develop and implement peer buddying and mentoring offers.
  • Promote our therapeutic service and co‑deliver workshops with team members.
  • Collaborate with two team managers and participate in 1:1 supervision.
  • Maintain statutory compliance, including registering with the Social Work England (SWE) or applying for registration.
  • Provide a car for use in performing duties, maintain insurance for business use, and accommodate disability requirements where possible.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Social Worker (SWE) or ongoing application for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Relevant social work experience, ideally within adoption services or children's services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adoption practice and legislation.
  • Strong communication, relationship building, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a peripatetic setting.
