We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced practitioner to lead our well-established team of Neighbourhood Group Workers in Burnley. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with flexibility required to meet service needs during evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Strong experience of delivering and managing group-based programmes for early years and primary-aged children and their parents.
  • A solid understanding of early intervention, child development and community-based family support.
  • Proven line management experience, with the ability to support, motivate and develop staff.
  • The confidence to lead a busy service, maintain high standards of practice and ensure positive outcomes for children and families.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Neighbourhood Senior Family Support Workers, the post holders will work in partnership with Neighbourhood Group Workers across the team to plan, deliver, and evaluate a programme of group work for children, adults, and family groups, in line with the service curriculum and local needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with group workers to design, coordinate and support the delivery of regular group work programmes that meet the needs of children, parents and families.
  • Take a lead role in the delivery of group work sessions and drop-in support services within identified Family Hubs, Family Centres and outreach venues across the district.
  • Coordinate the operational arrangements that support group work delivery in community settings or in partnership with other agencies, as directed.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality informal education, prevention and early intervention opportunities that support improved outcomes for children and families.
  • Ensure that group work is targeted towards families most in need, addressing barriers to progression and supporting children to thrive.
  • Work with parents to increase their capacity to promote their children's wellbeing, strengthen family resilience and make informed decisions for their household.
  • Build positive, trusted relationships with parents and children, fostering mutual respect and encouraging engagement in group programmes.
