The Roles

Three key partners to join Lancashire’s Families First Programme; a Health Partner from the NHS, a Police Partner from Lancashire Police and an Education Partner from Lancashire County Council. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation national reform of children’s services, and to help shape how Lancashire delivers earlier, more effective, and more relational support to families.

About Families First

Families First is a bold national reform transforming children’s social care by uniting agencies earlier and more effectively to ensure families receive the right help at the right time. Lancashire is leading the way with integrated Family Help, fully joined-up Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams, and empowering Family Group Decision-Making. This compassionate, relationship-focused approach reduces duplication, strengthens safeguarding and puts families at the centre. We’re now seeking passionate professionals from Health, Education and Policing to help deliver this ambitious, county-wide transformation.

The Roles

  • Health Partner: Brings senior safeguarding expertise, strategic insight and system-wide coordination to ensure the health sector plays a strong and visible role in Families First. You’ll help shape pathways, support consistent standards across all health partners, drive improvements in safeguarding practice, and ensure health perspectives are embedded in every workstream.
  • Police Partner: Provides expert policing insight and leadership into this multi-agency reform — ensuring the police contribution to child protection and safeguarding is fully understood, fully aligned, and fully represented. You’ll help strengthen joint working, improve information-sharing, support MACPT development and ensure policing remains a visible, influential partner in every aspect of the programme.
  • Education Partner: Provides specialist safeguarding leadership across Lancashire’s education landscape — supporting schools, early years settings and trusts to play a confident, well-informed and proactive role in Families First. You’ll help shape policy, deliver safeguarding improvements, promote early help pathways, and strengthen the collective voice of education across the programme.

What We’re Looking For…

Across all three roles, we’re looking for people who not only bring professional expertise, but who genuinely care about making Lancashire a place where families can thrive. While each role has its own technical requirements, the following three core skills are essential across all three positions:

  • Strategic influence: Thinking far beyond the boundaries of a single organisation and understanding how different parts of the system connect. It calls for people who can confidently shape change at scale, influence without relying on formal authority, and lead through strong, trust-based relationships.
  • Exceptional communication: Building trust quickly, engaging in courageous yet respectful conversations, and handling sensitive information with care and diplomacy. You’ll need to communicate complex issues clearly and bring diverse partners together around a shared purpose.
  • Flexible & Solutions Based: Navigating complexity, adapting when priorities shift, and keeping sight of the wider vision while maintaining optimism and curiosity.

Why join us…

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to help build a system that genuinely changes lives. You’ll join a partnership that is collaborative, ambitious, supportive and energised by a shared mission. Every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to make a real difference for children and families across Lancashire.

If you’re ready to contribute your professional expertise, shape innovative practice, and help build a future where families get the right help at the right time — we’d love to hear from you.
