Lancashire Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is seeking main grade Educational Psychologists (EPs) to work in partnership with Lancashire Virtual School. This is an exciting opportunity for an EP motivated to apply psychology systemically and relationally to improve outcomes for children and young people who are looked after.

Half of your role (0.5) will involve working directly with the Virtual School. There will be a strong emphasis on relational, trauma‑informed, nurture‑based and attachment‑aware approaches, systemic consultation and formulation, capacity‑building and multi‑agency collaboration. You will use psychological frameworks to facilitate group problem‑solving discussions, be involved in individual casework and training. You will be supported by a member of the EPS' wider leadership team and will collaborate with Assistant EPs.

You will also be part of the wider EPS, which comprises three dynamic, friendly and supportive teams of EPs committed to optimising outcomes for children and young people and providing support and help to those who need it. EPS offers a new core service with a community‑psychology lens and a focus on group consultation‑led reflection to support systemic change. You will develop workshops with colleagues on topics relevant to the needs of your district, utilise your consultation skills to support settings to review practice and consider implementing new approaches, and may be involved in delivering emotional literacy support (ELSA) training and early‑years workshops for practitioners and parent carers.

You will be part of a working group that enables EPs to utilise their wide range of research interests and support wider local authority priorities.

Professional Development and Support

Lancashire EPS offers generous CPD time, including:

  • Individual and peer reflective supervision
  • Opportunity to supervise Trainee EPs or Assistant EPs (eligible EPs) with an additional salary scale point for the duration of supervision
  • Monthly CPD Service Days where all EP teams meet to support CPD needs and service development
  • Opportunity to participate in internal CPD planning group
  • Opportunity to become a member of the North‑West EP CPD Conference steering group

Both part‑time and full‑time posts are available. Full salary scale points apply to part‑time positions as well.

Qualifications and Requirements

We need fully qualified and HCPC registered EPs. Candidates should demonstrate a strong relational and systemic approach, experience in trauma‑informed practice, and capacity to work collaboratively across agencies.
