Join our team as a Director Correspondence Officer and provide exceptional support to the Director of Highways and Transport. As the Director Correspondence Officer, you'll have a key role at the heart of a high‑profile service area, ensuring the Director can effectively deliver the County Council’s statutory responsibilities under the Highways Act 1980 and the Traffic Management Act 2004. You will take ownership of high‑level correspondence on behalf of the Director, managing sensitive, complex and often time‑critical issues. Working confidently with senior leaders, elected members, partners and members of the public, you will ensure all communication is accurate, timely and aligned with the strategic priorities of the service.

This is a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same. You will need excellent judgment, strong written communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex information with discretion and professionalism.

More About The Role

  • You’ll act as a first point of contact dealing with highways correspondence for the Director and at times related telephone calls.
  • You’ll draft routine and complex correspondence to a high standard ensuring complete record keeping on the relevant systems when required.
  • You’ll develop an understanding of the Director’s business, hierarchy of contacts, local protocols, and priorities.
  • You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
  • This position is term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.
