Peripatetic Catering Assistant / Cook – West Lancashire
Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day. We are looking for committed individuals to join the service.
You will work as part of a team in and around the West Lancashire area, providing high‑quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children. This position covers various schools within Lancashire on a minimum of 15 hours per week, pro rata.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare the dining area for service, including moving and setting up furniture and putting away
Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages
Clean all equipment and catering areas
Run units in the absence of a UCS
What We Are Looking For
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
Good customer care skills
Previous catering and food preparation experience essential
Running various kitchens in the absence of the unit manager
Working Hours / Days
Monday to Friday
Term time only
Essential car user providing cover across the Preston area
15 hours per week, variable depending on school meal uptake and service needs
