Location: Hutton Church Of England Grammar School, Liverpool Road, Hutton, Preston, Lancashire, PR4 5SN (829 on roll). We are looking to appoint a hardworking and enthusiastic Assistant Catering Manager to join our in‑house Catering Team. Hutton Grammar is a Church of England 11‑18 comprehensive school judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2022 and received a positive report from SIAMS in January 2026, recognising that “pupils and adults are individually known, nurtured and inspired”. The kitchen is busy and popular and offers a breakfast service before school, a limited break‑time service in our Sixth Form Centre, and a lunch service each day.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Catering Manager in preparation and service of high‑quality meals to students and staff.
  • Assist in running the school kitchen, including meal preparation, kitchen maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and food hygiene standards.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of food hygiene, allergen requirements and nutritional standards required for schools.
  • Support staff on school events such as Open Evenings and additional INSET days.

Working hours: Monday‑Friday during term time plus an additional 5 days: 3 on‑site INSET days and 2 as additional hours to support school events.

Salary: £21,856 per year, full‑time equivalent; paid pro‑rata for part‑time. Increase for 2026/27 to be confirmed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Food Hygiene Training – Level 2
  • First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to undertake this training)

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of large‑scale catering.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working in a school kitchen.
