Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a skilled and motivated ICT Systems Engineer β Airwave & ESN to join our team. The Airwave & ESN System Engineers are responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the mission critical communication technologies provided to Lancashire Constabulary. The role provides support to operational policing for frontline officers in the OVERT/COVERT disciplines. The role upholds policy/procedures provided by the Home Office, Airwave, and other governing bodies. The role also maintains the Integrated Communication System (ICCS) ICT infrastructure environment for the Force Control Room. This critical system supports operational policing in deploying officers around the county. The role provides first, second-, and third-line support for the whole ICCS infrastructure. The main duties also include maintaining the handheld and mobile tetra radio fleet. The team has responsibility to represent the Home Office in accurately holding the Force to the Airwave Code of Connections guidelines. This is achieved by regular audits of OVERT/COVERT devices and recording their status for scrutiny by the Home Office. Providing technical solutions to improve end-user performance/usability and help to reduce financial wastage. The role also provides project support within all aspects of critical communication. The role is pivotal in effective delivery of technical and policy improvements within the critical communication community. This is achieved by working with other 3ES teams around the NW region to uphold standards set by the Home Office that will benefit the Constabulary and provide safety communications for operational policing.
Skills And Experience
- Full UK Manual Drivers License
- HNC Electronics / Computing / Communications Engineering / or equivalent qualification or proven experience
- ITIL Foundation Certificate or willingness to work towards and complete
- Project Management qualification or willingness to work towards and complete as part of in house CPD
Vetting And Medical
Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance. Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency required for Management Vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
