Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a professional and customer-focused Front Counter Assistant to join our West Cluster team, based at Blackpool. This role is vital in providing a welcoming and efficient service to members of the public who attend police stations. As the first point of contact, you will play an important role in supporting communities, assisting with enquiries, and ensuring individuals receive the appropriate help, guidance, or policing response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take reports of emergency and non-emergency incidents reported at the Front Counter.
  • Collect and collate information from people subject to the Sex Offenders Register and Terrorism Notifications to ensure details are recorded correctly.
  • Update computer systems linked with this information and ensure relevant departments and PNC are updated accordingly.
  • Provide a first point of contact for victims of crime attending the Police Station, with a commitment to safeguarding and protecting the public.
  • Record details of lost or stolen documents from Foreign Nationals and liaise directly with the Home Office as required.

Skills And Experience

  • Experience dealing with people in difficult, sometimes confrontational circumstances.
  • Experience demonstrating excellent listening, questioning and interpersonal skills, along with good oral communication.
  • Experience maintaining strict confidentiality, using tact and diplomacy where applicable.

Vetting And Medical

Applicants must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting, with a minimum 3‑year UK residency requirement and be at least 18 years old. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment and are expected to work in accordance with the attached rota.
