Lancashire Constabulary is looking for an OSS Planning Assistant to join our Specialist Operations Team within the Operations Support Services Division based at Hutton Headquarters. The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to Operations Support Services in the planning of a variety of events and security operations across the force and in the provision of mutual aid nationally to other forces. The role will involve the accurate recording of resources allocated to operations, production of accurate written briefs to commanders and triage requests for support from other departments and agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of operational orders written in response to any planned or spontaneous event occurring.
- Assisting in the co‑ordination and facilitation of forcewide responses to requests for mutual aid.
- Support OSS with the allocation of resources to spontaneous and pre‑planned incidents occurring within the Lancashire Constabulary area or elsewhere.
- Triage requests for support into OSS.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of service with an emphasis on quality at all times.
Skills And Experience
- Experience in inputting, interrogating and managing computerised databases to produce reports for management information.
- Experience of using Microsoft Software Applications, including MS Office – Word, Excel, Teams.
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, both orally and in writing.
- Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload.
- The ability to problem solve and make decisions in a dynamic and fast moving environment.
Vetting And Medical
Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management Vetting (MV) & SC Vetting. Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency requirement for Management vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
