Lancashire Constabulary is looking for Crime Scene Investigation at Blackpool to join our team. To be responsible for the effective management and deployment of CSI resources in support of operational Policing. Monitor and develop staff ensuring quality standards in the field of crime scene investigations are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective management and operation of the Crime Scene Investigation Team.
  • Provide proactive leadership and direction, ensuring that staff welfare, attendance management, recruitment, discipline, grievance handling, equal opportunity and other Human Resource management issues are managed in an open and transparent manner, seeking advice from the Human Resource Department as required.
  • Ensure CSI staff within the team maintain competence & performance standards across all relevant disciplines to ensure the achievement of Departmental, Divisional and Constabulary objectives through effective use of the PDR system & competence frameworks.
  • Manage CSI resources across the county, liaising with CSI Supervisors in other teams & BCUs, to ensure effective delivery of high-quality CSI services.
  • Ensure liaison with divisional Senior Management Teams to ensure satisfaction with CSI service/performance and compliance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with national, Constabulary and Divisional Standards in respect of all aspects of crime scene investigation, crime scene management, crime scene attendance and forensic intelligence gathering.
  • Must engage with and perform the procedures and other working practices required to achieve and maintain the ISO:17020 quality standard for the CSI Unit in accordance with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct, including the schedule of accreditation for forensic units in England and Wales.
  • Act as Deputy Technical Manager, when required.

Skills And Experience

  • Demonstrable Crime Scene Manager Experience
  • Successfully completed Crime Scene Investigation stage 1 & stage 2 courses
  • A’ Level qualification or equivalent in a scientific discipline relating to Crime Scene Investigation (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Photography)

Vetting And Medical

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management vetting (MV). Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency requirement for Management vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment. The successful candidate will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota. Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
