Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced RN to undertake a development opportunity at Dane Garth Inpatient Mental Health Services. The base for the post will be Dova ward, a 20-bedded mental health acute ward. This Senior Nurse Development post appeals to nurses keen to develop skills and knowledge to improve the care and experience of patients with significant mental health difficulties, providing input to their recovery on a day-to-day basis.
Within the development programme you will develop skills in leadership, role modelling, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues and students, and overcome challenges and problem‑solving any complex clinical issues. The successful advocate will receive support from the ward manager, practice development nurse, Modern Matron and others in order to flourish in progression into an accomplished Band 6 Senior Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and role model high standards in everyday practice.
- Support the ward manager and seniors in achieving high levels of performance and quality in supervision.
- Collaborate and drive improvement of the service, proactively support least restrictive practice among direct and wider team.
- Coaching and mentoring of junior staff and students.
- Take initiative and lead exploration and promotion of quality improvements and changes in service, keeping patient experience at the heart of everything.
- Receive support, supervision and training opportunity internally through practice development, internal and external programmes, while being encouraged and supported to access continued professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
Passionate and motivated about continued professional development, team development and continuous quality improvement for the benefit of patients, carers and staff. Experience or interest in leadership, coaching and mentoring is desirable.
