An opportunity has arisen for a Peer Support Worker to join the Forensic Community Team. This is a post for an expert by experience; therefore, we are seeking to recruit someone who has lived experience of forensic mental health, criminal justice, addictions and recovery knowledge to support service users as they leave secure hospital and whilst living in the community supported by the Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT).

This knowledge and experience will also be invaluable to the rest of the team to assist them with treatment and planning for service users.

Peer Support workers contribute to, and participate in, the on- going support of service users and their carers.

The post will involve supporting service users of the Forensic Community Service in activities such as moving on Group, well-being groups walking groups and various social inclusion activities, providing individual support and advice where appropriate.

We would like to recruit someone who is enthusiastic, a team player and who has good communication skills. Experience of previous support worker roles or supporting others would be an advantage but not essential.

Peer Support Workers work as part of Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust’s (LSCFT) Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT) at Guild Lodge, on the outskirts of Preston.

The Peer Support Workers will work as an integrated member of the FCMHT and provide a lived experience of forensic mental health, criminal justice, addictions and recovery knowledge to support service users as they leave secure hospital and whilst living in the community supported by the FCMHT. This knowledge and experience will also be invaluable to the rest of the team to assist them with treatment and planning for service users.

Peer Support workers contribute to, and participate in, the on- going support of service users and their carers. Contribute to the health, safety and security of service users and their environment. Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service.

The post holder will work within the multidisciplinary team
