A Vacancy at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. This is a community role covering the Fylde and Wyre locality; you must be able to travel independently of public transport and may be required to travel to other localities.

We are seeking a highly motivated, conscientious team player with excellent communication and clinical skills to support the development of the OT role within the Children’s community learning disability team.

Service Context

The Children’s Occupational Therapy Service works within the learning disability service to provide forward-thinking, high-quality services in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with children and young people with learning disabilities, we work closely with their families and are committed to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions to support, maintain and/or restore occupational functioning.
  • Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, providing assessments, evidence-based interventions, and support to young people with learning disabilities and their families and carers.
  • Support families with sleep difficulties, self‑care tasks, understanding their child’s sensory needs, and promote engagement through meaningful activity.
  • Deliver parent workshops and individual or group-based approaches to meet the needs and wishes of individuals.
  • Collaborate with LD nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and nursery nurses to deliver specialist assessments and coordinated support.
  • Travel within Lancashire and South Cumbria, including agile and office‑based working, with core hours Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Participate in flexible working arrangements, including term time, part time, compressed hours and flexi‑time, to support staff well‑being.
