We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our experienced Children’s Community Learning Disability Team. You will work with children and young people aged 0–18 who have a diagnosed learning disability and may present with additional needs such as:

  • Autism spectrum conditions
  • Communication difficulties
  • Challenging behaviours
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Mental health concerns
  • Physical health needs

You will provide specialist nursing input across a range of community settings including homes, schools, respite services, and clinics. The role involves family-centred care, working closely with parents/carers, education providers, social care, and other health professionals to promote positive outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking holistic assessments and contribute to multi-agency care planning
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to support emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and physical health
  • Provide specialist advice and training to families, schools, and other professionals
  • Facilitating and conducting workshops and group work
  • Support safeguarding processes and contribute to risk assessments
  • Promote health education and preventative care
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using electronic systems (Rio)

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
