The predicted salary is between 37338 - 44962 £ per year.

Inpatient wards and units are designed to meet the acute holistic needs of service users and patients and carers, in a recovery focussed environment. This working environment is conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing and health and safety policy. The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility demonstrating use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high quality care. There is an expectation that the post holder will utilise research audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.

The successful candidate will bring excellent role modelling skills, a passion for supporting and developing junior colleagues, including student nurses, and should have a keen interest in quality improvement projects that can lead to improvements in patient care and staff wellbeing. You should bring with you experience of nursing people with acute mental health needs, have experience of supporting colleagues and students with development, and a 'can-do' attitude.

The successful candidate will be expected to work across a shift pattern, being part of a team that provides 24/7 care and treatment to adult male service users with acute mental health needs. There will be occasions when you may need to support other wards, including our 136 suite, PICUs and older adult wards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing meaningful clinical and managerial supervision to staff within the team;
  • Supporting and developing learners in practice;
  • Shift leading, administering medication, shift work, engaging with patients to support recovery, including leading on dialog+ assessments;
  • Ensuring that the clinical environments meet high infection control and cleaning standards;
  • Representing the ward at meetings which may involve preparing and presenting reports;
  • Administering medication and monitoring for side effects;
  • Completing physical health checks on patients and escalating concerns as and where required.
