Don’t have an NPLQ Qualification?

We are running our next NPLQ course on Monday 16th February to Friday 20th February 2026 at Hanworth Leisure Centre. Following the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s (RLSS UK) programme, we will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you will need to become a certified Lifeguard. At the end of the course, you will swim away with National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid, and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties, and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ are in three sections, and candidates must successfully pass all to attain the qualification.

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites

Every candidate attending a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) course must be 16 years old or above at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

How much does the qualification cost?

Our NPLQs cost £270 including assessment fees. Depending on the needs of the business, we may be able to fund your training. A minimum commitment of set hours per week is required, with a learning agreement in place.

Due to the needs of the business and the department, we may interview suitable candidates before the closing date. This job may also close early if a large number of applications are received. You are advised to submit your application as early as possible to avoid missing your chance to apply.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of what we value as an organisation. Lampton Group is an equal opportunities employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other status protected by law. Our recruitment team are happy to support with any reasonable adjustments that are needed within the recruitment process.
