About the Job
As Aquatics Manager, you will be responsible for proactively managing the Lifeguarding teams’ performance, health and safety on poolside, coordinating wet side timetables, events and rotas and setting team targets. As a Duty Manager you will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Leisure Centre, ensuring a safe, enjoyable and quality customer experience. Ultimately, you will ensure all operations flow smoothly and help us meet our company goals.
You will also be a key holder for the building and therefore, will be responsible for opening and closing the site whilst on shift. Our sites are open from 6am - 10pm so flexibility with working hours is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management responsibilities for recruitment, induction, delivering company training, appraisal, development, and performance management of staff, including one‑to‑ones
- Ensuring staff attend NPLQ CPD’s, whilst ensuring record-keeping, and verification requirements are complied with at the Centre
- Deliver a comprehensive aquatics programme, inclusive of swimming timetables and school holiday activities designed to meet the needs of the local communities.
- Coordination of events and activities like galas and holiday camps.
- Oversee the organisation of the pool timetable.
- Responsible for the daily, weekly and monthly pool plant operations, tasks and checks.
- Deal with any H&S incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns & report on the management system.
- Provide first class customer service to all users of the facility.
- Supervise and coordinate regular maintenance and cleaning of the facility.
- Drive and achieve centre financial targets and KPIs, including customer service targets, occupancy targets, revenue targets, payroll costs and participation levels.
- Track, measure and report on the effectiveness of aquatic programmes, including membership indicators and business plan objectives, in line with Lampton's reporting procedures.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- First Aid at Work Qualification
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
- Ideally hold or be able to work towards a Pool Plant Operator Qualification
- RLSS Trainer Assessor required, but full training can be provided
- Previous experience of managing operations within the leisure sector, with experience of wet side operations
- Previous supervisory experience
- The ability to communicate clearly, influence and motivate staff.
- Experience of working within a Health & Safety critical environment with the ability to understand and implement legislation in the operational environment is essential.
