As a Swim Manager you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of our swim school whilst looking to grow the programme through innovation and creative ideas. You will develop our teachers through CPD training whilst working collaboratively with other departments across the business to ensure an innovative programme of activities are delivered on time and within budget. You will also be a key holder for the building and therefore will be responsible for opening and closing the site whilst on shift. Our sites are open from 6am – 10pm so flexibility with working hours is required.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the swimming programme, ensuring it is operated in accordance with the Swim England Teaching Plan.
- Ensure the swim school brand is fully implemented at the centre.
- Drive Swim School occupancy, working closing with other managers to optimise pool usage.
- Assist schools with school swimming booking processes.
- Forge positive working relationships with the local Swimming Clubs, Schools and the Council's Sports Development Team to the benefit of the Learn to Swim Programme and swimming in general.
- Teach swimming lessons across all stages and abilities of the swimming programme if and when required.
- Line‑manage swim instructors and school instructors: responsibilities for recruitment, induction, delivering training, appraisal, development, and performance management of staff, including one‑to‑ones.
- Deal with any H&S incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns and report on the management system.
- Provide clear leadership with regards to compliance with all health and safety procedures and requirements, fixing or escalating issues as appropriate.
- Supported by the Technical Trainer you will ensure NPLQ CPD, comp test, requirements are complied with at the Centre.
Qualifications
- Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification.
- Experience working in wet operations ideally and be now looking to move into a senior or management position.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to meet set targets and deadlines, and be pro‑active in your duties.
- The ability to mentor, motivate, coach and develop team members and customers to achieve their potential.
- Excellent communication skills and experience delivering first‑class customer service is also essential.
- Ideally hold or be able to work towards a First Aid at Work Qualification.
- Ideally hold or be able to work towards a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
