We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing team. Alongside a salary of £39,000–£49,000, you'll have the opportunity to earn an annual performance bonus of up to 17%, recognising your contribution to both client success and business growth.

About the role
You will manage a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, family-run businesses and private individuals, delivering both tax compliance services and high-quality tax planning advice across Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax. As a member of our senior management team, you will contribute to the delivery of our business plan while supporting the development of colleagues across the firm.
What you'll be doing
- Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent customer service.
- Advise clients on tax compliance and tax planning matters.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical commercial solutions.
- Prepare and review approximately 750 tax returns annually, including Personal Tax Returns, Partnership Tax Returns, and Capital Gains Tax Returns.
- Complete tax calculations and review clients' overall tax positions.
- Ensure all tax returns are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Manage HMRC enquiries and correspondence.
- Provide advice on business restructuring, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax planning, share schemes, and property taxation.
- Support senior leadership on complex tax planning projects.
- Help develop and support colleagues within the business.
Essential requirements
- Strong working knowledge of UK corporate and personal taxation.
- Experience managing a diverse client portfolio.
- Experience delivering tax compliance and tax advisory services.
- Ability to prepare and review tax returns accurately.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Professional, client-focused attitude.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable requirements
- A minimum of seven years' experience in a UK accountancy practice is preferred.
- ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualified, or equivalent practice experience.

Working pattern and location
Full-time position based in Carlisle. Travel to client sites and other Lamont Pridmore offices will be required. Hours: 8.30 am - 5 pm (flex)
