The Role

As we continue our ambitious expansion, we need a senior-level legal partner to provide strategic oversight across multiple asset classes and innovative operating models. This is a fractional, part-time/hourly role designed for a "smart client" who can bridge the gap between internal management and external firms. Your primary objective is to align our legal strategy with commercial goals while significantly reducing reliance on external counsel and controlling fees.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Case & Dispute Management: Taking ownership of both contentious and non-contentious legal matters to reach commercially viable resolutions.
  • Strategic Risk Assessment: Acting as the primary filter for risk and managing tactical strategy before escalating matters to external firms.
  • Technical Document Review: Providing first-pass reviews on complex instruments, including JV Agreements, Shareholder Agreements, Investment Terms, and debt finance documentation.
  • Real Estate & Employment Support: Handling development agreements, supplier contracts, and high-level HR issues or settlement agreements.
  • Legal Operations: Managing external legal spend to ensure firms are only instructed on a niche basis with high efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) as a Solicitor or In-House Counsel.
  • Generalist Proficiency: Deep experience in commercial contracts, employment law, and corporate finance.
  • Sector Expertise: Proven legal experience within real estate investment, property development, or hospitality is highly desirable.
  • Jurisdiction: Comprehensive understanding and practical experience within UK & Ireland law.
  • Mindset: A "self-starter" who can operate autonomously without an existing legal department. You should be pragmatic, commercially-minded, and able to translate complex legal topics for non-legal managers.

Logistics

  • Employment Type: Part-time / Hourly.
  • Location: Fully remote, though travel to our London offices may be required approximately once per month.
