Role Overview

Cost Manager role within Laminar Projects, a project management consultancy and tech developer focused on digitalising construction cost management. The role involves delivering cutting‑edge cost management using digital tools, overseeing all cost management aspects from concept to close‑out, and driving cross‑functional collaboration to ensure on‑budget, high‑quality project delivery.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Own the cost: Manage project costs through all stage gates, integrating QCRA and risk‑adjusted forecasting to provide a "no surprises" financial environment.
  • Own the outcome: Lead pre‑construction estimating (when within scope) and post‑contract live cost management, including change orders with deep‑dive cost analysis to protect the client’s interests.
  • Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels to help them deliver their part more efficiently and effectively.
  • Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with the team to enhance Laminar's long‑term impact.
  • Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally while supporting clients to improve as well.

Capabilities and experience:

You should be a seasoned Cost Manager with extensive experience directly with clients, ideally with experience at Tier 1 or 2 Contractors, and a proven ability to foster a collaborative working environment across disciplines.

  • Must have Mastery: Cost Management background with at least 10+ years of construction project experience.
  • Communication: Proficient in written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Leadership: A relentless approach to dealing with people.
  • Impact: A track record of delivering beyond the basics and improving projects or organisations.
  • Location: UK location is most likely; willingness to travel every other week to support regional operations. European travel is possible as opportunities arise.

Desirable experience:

  • Data Centre or high‑tech industrial projects experience.
