Are you tired of the standard, old-fashioned construction approach? Do you enjoy making things run more efficiently with common sense and technology? Do you value proper planning and the link between schedule and day-to-day delivery? If you want flexible, hands-on construction work that improves the industry, this role may be for you.
Laminar Projects is a high-end project management consultancy and tech developer focused on upgrading how construction projects are delivered. We bring transparency and control through a pragmatic mix of the latest tech, our processes, and a big dose of common sense. We invest in digital solutions to help projects run better. Our people are our core asset, and we’re focused on designing an organisation that supports the growth and flourishing of the team. We have grown from two people in 2017 to over 220 today, with a stable client base across infrastructure and complex building projects in the UK and internationally. Joining us is more than a job—it’s a transformative educational experience. You’ll be encouraged to guide yourself into areas you’re most interested in, and we’ll enable your development.
Core values and vision:
- Grow yourself – your relationship with yourself
- Care about people – your relationship with others
- Execute to greatness – your relationship with your team
- Build civilisation – your relationship with humanity and the world
We pursue two missions: fully digitalising the construction of human civilisation, and creating a new type of organisation that enables human flourishing while delivering a positive societal impact.
The Role
Purpose of the role: You’ll enhance the delivery of complex projects through project planning at the highest standards. You’ll devise strategies to improve project delivery, translate knowledge into a logic-linked plan, analyse it using planning software, and help teams understand what to prioritise.
Your team: This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy team, focusing on:
- Understanding the real problems of projects
- Implementing the best solutions to those problems
- Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology
You’ll be part of our Project Planning Team, leaders in the planning of complex construction projects. Your initial leader will be one of our planning discipline directors.
Your top three objectives:
- To make construction projects deliver to near perfection
- To create scalable and repeatable solutions to common problems
- To develop yourself and everyone around you
Your five responsibilities:
- Own the plan: Own the project plan for one or more projects and ensure the project works to it; mitigate delays and manage commercially
- Own the outcome: Ensure the project team’s understanding and focus on the plan, persisting with challenging teams
- Report and inform: Provide simple, actionable reports to stakeholders to help them deliver their part more efficiently
- Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools with the team for long-term impact
- Develop everyone: Maximise development of your team and educate our clients to improve as well
Qualifications
- A construction engineering background with at least 2+ years of experience on construction projects
- Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to influence and engage construction professionals
- Leadership: proactively lead yourself and others by asking the right questions and challenging assumptions
- Impact: track record of delivering scalable, repeatable improvements that positively affect projects and organisations
Not a fit if:
- You want an easy, low-challenge role
- You prefer to be the smartest person in the room
- You don’t welcome honest candid feedback
- You prefer to work alone rather than with a team
