Laminar Projects is proud to be recognized as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Construction, Engineering & Property for 2024! Join a team where learning, collaboration, and growth are at the core of everything we do, and where solving big challenges is part of the fun.
This is a hybrid role which will combine remote working with site presence in client projects.
This role is specifically for project professionals who are experienced in the Transmission and Distribution sector in the UK preferably working on the developer/operator side, although experience working as principal contractor will also be considered. The person will have built a demonstrable reputation in the sector making past colleagues/stakeholders keen to work with them again.
You will lead the delivery of engagements, considered as a sector SME, at times leading and mentoring other team members to develop their sector capabilities and knowledge. You will also serve clients in some of Laminar's core disciplines such as planning and project controls. You will also support the growth of our services in the sector through developing proposals, winning strategies and building successful client relationships and strategic partnerships in the sector.
This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy which focuses on:
- Understanding what the real problems of projects are
- Implementing the best solutions to those problems
- Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology
More specifically you will be part of our Project Services Team. Your initial leader will be our Power & Renewable sector lead.
Your top 3 objectives:
- To make construction projects deliver to near perfection
- To create scalable and repeatable solutions to common problems
- To develop yourself and everyone around you
Your top 5 responsibilities:
- Own the plan: Own the project plan for one or more projects and ensure that the project is working to it effectively. Ensure delays are mitigated and managed commercially.
- Own the outcome: You may not be the project manager ultimately responsible for the results but you are sure as heck responsible for putting in your best effort to ensure the project’s understanding and focus on the plan no matter how stubborn they are!
- Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively.
- Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with the team so that long-term impact is achieved.
- Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our clients to improve as well.
You are an experienced project manager in construction project management with a minimum of 7 years' experience working on UK transmission and distribution projects with good level of understanding of sector specific requirements, processes and familiar working on projects for UK DNOs and/or TOs i.e. UKPN, National Grid, SPT or SSE.

- You want an easy, chilled-out role without much challenge.
- You like to be the smartest person in the room.
- You don’t like continuously receiving honest candid feedback.
- You prefer to do your own thing rather than work with a team.
At Laminar we value diverse experiences and perspectives, empowering each member to contribute their unique expertise towards our collective success, so if you don’t think you meet all the criteria but still are excited about this role we encourage you to apply anyways!
Salary and Benefits:

Grow your whole self: Our leaders are more like coaches and one of our main objectives is to give 5 years’ worth of learning and development for every 1 year with us. You have a coach, mentor, well-being therapist and a development-oriented environment.
