About the Team:
The Repairs Team is organised into two area teams which work in the North and South of the borough. They are digital led and data driven with an improvement programme which supports the delivery of the Borough Plan and modern working methods. We undertake over 100,000 repairs per year managing a range of contractors to ensure they meet customer focussed key performance indicators.
Undertaking the structural engineering function with the Repairs Team you will be commissioning and managing external consultants undertaking structural surveys and Party Wall related works.
About the Role:
You will provide expert and timely structural engineering services across Lambeth’s Housing stock, protecting Council assets and ensuring buildings are safe and comply with Health and Safety regulations. You will be:
- Managing and monitoring the quality of work performed by structural engineering consultants.
- Commissioning structural surveys in response to requests made by teams within the Housing Department.
- Contract managing urgent structural repairs schemes to comply with H&S Regulations and Court Orders from inception to completion.
- Raising the recommended remedial works provided in the structural engineer’s reports.
- Assisting Lambeth’s Legal Team as required in defending the Council’s interests in litigation cases.
- Monitoring and managing structural engineering consultant budgets.
You must have a Civil or Structural Engineering degree complemented by at least ten years’ experience in a similar role in a local authority. You should have good knowledge of structures, structural defects in low and high-rise domestic buildings, diagnostic surveys, remedies and Party Wall Etc. Act 1996.
