About the Team
The Information Governance function is responsible for proactively supporting services to implement the Information Governance (IG) Framework, to remove risk aversion and improve information flows both within the Council and with partners. We also provide a Data Protection Officer (DPO) service to schools as required by GDPR / DPA 2018.
About the Role
In this role the Information Governance Officer will undertake a range of operational duties and professional activities under the direction of their line manager. Responsibilities include working on Subject Access Requests, reviewing records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and laws, and supporting the implementation of the IG framework.
- Handle Subject Access Requests and related inquiries.
- Conduct reviews, providing accurate and timely analysis.
- Maintain confidentiality while managing complex, highly sensitive casework.
- Use Excel and SharePoint to manage data and share information.
- Collaborate with services to improve information flows and support risk reduction.
- Engage in new programmes or projects beyond routine operations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Experience with review work or handling confidential, sensitive casework.
- Understanding of regulations governing information management, including GDPR and DPA 2018.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to work at pace.
- Ability to work both independently and cohesively in a team.
Legal Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to obtain an Enhanced/Standard/Basic Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and to have a Cifas check.
