About the Team: You will join the Public Health Team, which has over 50 people from a variety of disciplines. Within the Public Health Team, you will initially work with programme managers, Public Health Consultants and specialists and other commissioners on the strategic review, planning and commissioning of substance misuse services.
About the Role: Essential to this fixed term role is experience of strategic review and planning of services, ideally with knowledge of substance misuse services. We require an experienced commissioning lead to review the suite of NHS and voluntaryâsector substance misuse services and make recommendations to inform a comprehensive commissioning strategy. We have a 3âyear funding settlement for this work and require a commissioner who can assuredly review a broad range of services and put together a commissioning plan of how these services can improve the health outcomes of residents. A drive to work efficiently within a fastâpaced environment is required.
Expected Work Plan for 12 Months:
- Reviews of NHS and voluntary sector services, ideally across substance misuse and/or related services such as housing
- Drafting of commissioning strategies
- Identifying and allocating resources from multiâmillion pound budgets
- Overseeing governance, decision making and approvals processes for a diverse range of contracts
- Leading complex discussions with services, elected members and Directorâlevel senior management
