About the Borough

Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London\’s largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.
With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas\’s Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.
About the Role
Lambeth’s Health and Wellbeing Bus programme began during the pandemic initially focused on delivering Covid support through information, vaccinations and test kits. In 2022 the offer was broadened to health and wellbeing in the borough through visiting communities to promote healthy lifestyles, signposting to health and community services as well as offering 1-1 sessions with trained advisors on both health topics and cost of living support.
The programme is now recruiting Health and Wellbeing Bus Champions to work predominately on the bus supporting the daily running of the service and assisting the advisors who deliver 1-1 sessions. The purpose of the roles is to engage with the public to promote Public Health priorities in Lambeth and reduce health inequalities. The roles will also involve working from community hubs and events as required by the programme.
The successful candidates will be supported with a qualification in the Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 Award Understanding Health Improvement and in addition other relevant supplemental courses as relevant to the post. We are seeking a team who are passionate about health and enjoy talking with people to support them to access better outcomes. The role will be 14-hours per week and may occasionally involve some evening and weekend work.
We especially encourage applications from people from the Black, Asian and Multiethnic communities and while the role is open to all applicants, Lambeth will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from underrepresented groups where there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit.
Job Description and Person Specification is available in the job posting.
