About the Role
We offer a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to join Lambeth Councilâs Community Works DLO as an FRA MultiâTrade Operative, carrying out Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) remedial repairs across our housing stock.
As part of a multiâdisciplined team, you will deliver highâquality, FRAâcompliant repairs within set cost, quality, and safety parameters, ensuring all remedial works meet BM Trada standards and current fireâsafety regulations. Working closely with the FRA Supervisor, Manager, and Planners, you will be responsible for completing multiâtrade remedial works efficiently and to a âright first timeâ standard, using handheld devices to manage and prioritise work orders.
Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Carpentry or another core trade, with demonstrable additional skills in at least one other trade discipline.
The role involves travelling between sites across the borough; therefore, a full UK driving licence (manual) is essential.
Successful candidates will also be required to complete BM Trada fireâdoor installation and maintenance training, consisting of an initial twoâday course followed by approximately nine months of siteâbased assessments.

- The ability to carry out all types of FRAâcompliant repairs and maintenance works, both internally and externally.
- A proven track record of internal and external repairs, maintenance, installations, and remedial works that meet customer satisfaction.
- A clear understanding of health & safety, legal, and regulatory standards, maintaining compliance and best practice.
- Effective planning and organisation of workloads, ensuring efficient use of time, materials, transport, and equipment to meet response targets.
- Competence in using PDAs or other systems to receive instructions, record completed work and manage materials.
- Ability to maintain vehicle stock levels to support firstâfix completion and uphold vehicle care and safety standards.
- Professional communication with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, taking ownership of each repair and providing clear updates.
- Strong relationshipâbuilding skills with residents, stakeholders, and contractors to deliver excellent customer service.
- Willingness to participate in training and development to maintain skills and support flexible, multiâtrade working.
- Holding an NVQ Level 2 qualification in a core trade (Carpentry or Plumbing) with additional skills in at least one other trade (e.g. Drainage, Groundwork, Glazing, Plastering, Bricklaying, or Painting).
