This Opportunity: We are seeking a motivated individual at Surveyor or Senior Surveyor level to join our growing Business Rates team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious property professional looking to develop their career with plenty of opportunity for growth in the role. You will work alongside experienced Rating specialists on a broad range of instructions, gaining exposure to both occupier and landlord work with the autonomy to develop your own path with the guidance of your senior colleagues. Key Responsibilities:
- Managing Business Rates ‘appeals’ through the Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) process.
- Undertaking Rating valuations and analysing rental and market evidence.
- Advising clients on Business Rates liabilities reliefs and mitigation opportunities.
- Preparing and negotiating submissions with the HMRC Valuation Office (VO).
- Representing clients in discussions with the VO and, where appropriate, at Valuation Tribunal proceedings.
- Managing client portfolios and providing strategic rating advice.
- Identifying opportunities to reduce clients' rate liabilities and secure refunds where applicable.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through proactive communication and service delivery.
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping to grow the team's client base.
We’re looking for:
- A soon to be qualified, or recently qualified Chartered Surveyor with a background in Business Rates.
- A Business Rates Surveyor looking to progress to Senior Surveyor.
- A Senior Surveyor with Business Rates experience.
Your attributes:
- Proven track record undertaking valuations for rating purposes.
- Computer literacy, specifically in Microsoft Office and Rating-based applications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Outstanding negotiation skills.
