Overview
Provide support to the operational team by delivering competent SHE guidance, ensuring legal and company compliance, driving continuous improvement and promoting a positive safety culture across all activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent assurance that site activities comply with SHE policies, legal requirements and environmental permit conditions.
- Conduct SHE audits, inspections and compliance reviews across operational areas.
- Monitor implementation and effectiveness of risk controls developed by operational teams and support investigation of accidents, near-misses and environmental incidents.
- Prepare for regulatory inspections, customer audits and certification audits; maintain SHE management system documentation and records.
- Track corrective actions to ensure effective closure and organisational learning.
- Support implementation and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Energy Management System (ISO 50001).
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and energy efficiency; monitor and report energy performance indicators and environmental metrics.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and legislation; monitor effluent discharges, waste management, emissions and resource use.
- Coach and support managers and supervisors on SHE responsibilities, risk management, safe systems of work and environmental compliance.
- Promote a positive safety and environmental culture across the site; support safety campaigns, behavioural safety initiatives and workforce engagement programmes.
- Support delivery of SHE training, inductions and awareness sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential.
- Experience supporting ISO 14001 – desirable.
- Experience supporting ISO 50001 or energy management initiatives – desirable.
- IOSH membership or working towards – desirable.
- Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA or NEBOSH Environmental) – desirable.
- Experience in manufacturing, food processing or FMCG environment – preferred.
