The Environmental Advisor will support the site in ensuring compliance with environmental and energy legislation, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, and company sustainability goals. You will provide technical expertise, promote best practice in environmental and energy management, and drive continuous improvement in reducing environmental impact and energy use across the manufacturing plant.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- Compliance and management systems
- Maintain and develop the site’s ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems, ensuring ongoing compliance and readiness for certification/renewal audits.
- Monitor environmental and energy‑related legislation, regulations, and company requirements, advising management on implications and required actions.
- Support external and internal audits, inspections, and reporting activities.
- Environmental management
- Monitor and report on site emissions, effluents, waste streams, and resource use (water, materials, packaging, etc.).
- Manage environmental monitoring programs including air quality, noise, wastewater, and soil sampling.
- Oversee waste management contractors, ensuring proper segregation, storage, recycling, and disposal in line with permits and legislation.
- Develop initiatives to reduce environmental impact, including minimisation of waste, emissions, and use of hazardous substances.
- Support environmental incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Energy management
- Work with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to identify and deliver energy efficiency projects.
- Monitor energy consumption and performance indicators, preparing regular reports for management review.
- Support the site’s energy audits and ensure compliance with ISO 50001 requirements.
- Promote energy awareness among staff, supporting behavioural change programmes and training.
- Reporting and data management
- Prepare and submit environmental and energy performance reports for internal stakeholders, regulators, and corporate sustainability teams.
- Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) for environment and energy.
- Manage environmental records, permits, and documentation.
- Training & Awareness
- Deliver environmental and energy awareness training to employees and contractors.
- Provide guidance on sustainable practices and compliance obligations.
- Promote a strong culture of environmental responsibility across the site.

- Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all times.
