Under the supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients, RNs and Physicians while in clinic.
Essential Functions:- Provide all duties of a Medical Assistant.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of clinic to prep for the clinical day.
- Pull and review any information that your provider might request for incoming patients such as MRI results, X-ray reports, progress notes, therapy notes, lab results, and/or prior patient encounters.
- Retrieve all imaging reports and labs from outside sources 2 days prior to patient appointment (if available).
- Prep for scheduled injections, wound care, aspirations, toenail removals, cast care, and any other clinical procedures by making sure all supplies are available and accessible.
- Assist patients to exam rooms and instruct patient on process of changing into exam clothes (if needed).
- Obtain vitals, update patient history, reconcile home medications, review patient allergies, and current smoking status.
- Assist with DME patient education and fitting/Completing ABN forms.
- Assist medical secretaries with any questions they may have.
- Assist with clinical scheduling, problem solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficient and quality services.
- Assist in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities and services.
- Communicate any clinical disruptions to the Medical Assistant Supervisor.
- Senior Medical Assistants will help assist in orientating new hires.
- Answer all voicemails, emails, and tasks assigned prior to the end of each workday.
- Perform End of Day duties and tasks prior to leaving for the day.
- Fill in for other clinics and Urgent Care as needed (occasional Saturday hours).
- Other duties as assigned.
Work is performed in a professional environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Travel is required.

- Graduation from Medical Assistant Program.
- CMA, NHA, or RMA Certification required.
Minimum one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health care.
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
