This pivotal role is responsible for delivering the growth objectives for Lakeland.co.uk and third-party marketplaces; managing a team of 9 across digital marketing channels (PPC, SEO, Email, Affiliates, Social) and digital trading to achieve a +£50m sales budget. The role will work cross-functionally with the digital operations and development teams to deliver the KPIs supporting growth objectives.

Specifically, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Optimising the value of visitors and marketing channels using data and insight to perform agile trading conversion rate optimisation activities (landing page optimisation, sort order, attributes, search results, recommendations, content etc.) by device, and recommending larger inputs into the digital operations and development team’s roadmap.
  • Managing a £5m CRM and Acquisition budget, evaluating trade-offs between Cost of Acquisition (CAC) and Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV) to create the optimum spend.
  • Ensuring the category and product proposition is digitally focused by collaborating with data/insight and buying/merchandising teams, using data to influence product and category focus decisions.
  • Aligning digital channels’ focus and execution with the commercial plan by collaborating with the brand/creative team to ensure creative assets are suitable for digital use.
  • Increasing digital channels’ profitability by working with data/insight, supply chain, and buying/merchandising teams to configure range, pricing, delivery thresholds, and charges by digital channel.
  • Improving the operating profit of the marketplaces channel by analysing performance through a profit lens and understanding levers such as storage costs, marketing costs, and commissions to drive profitability.

You should be an experienced leader who can motivate their team to deliver in a challenging cross-functional trading environment. You’ll be commercially astute with strong analytical skills, capable of quickly understanding complex problems and taking appropriate action. You’ll be trading-focused, with the ability to recognize customer and commercial trade-offs, and articulate the case for change with clear customer and commercial benefits. Excellent prioritization and management skills are essential to handle internal demands and maximize value. Furthermore, you’ll be an effective influencer and engager, able to build positive relationships with key stakeholders across the business. Confidence, patience, tact, and diplomacy are crucial when dealing with challenging situations.

Minimum requirements include:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in merchandising and trading an e-commerce P&L, preferably in a multi-channel retail setting.
  • Proven ability to translate digital trading plans into actionable roadmaps.
  • Experience leading and managing teams to deliver against plans and roadmaps.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships.
  • A digital specialist with broader multi-channel or head office experience.
  • Experience using GA360.
