About the Bar

The Bar at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa offers a relaxed yet refined atmosphere with stunning views across Lake Derwentwater and the surrounding fells. Based within the hotel’s Lake View Lounge, the bar serves specialty coffees, cocktails, real ales and light bites in a warm, welcoming setting complete with open fires and a dog-friendly lounge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with recipe standards and guest preferences.
  • Greet guests promptly and in a friendly manner, take drink orders and serve them efficiently.
  • Maintain the bar area: restocking supplies, keeping the workspace clean and tidy, polishing glassware and ensuring compliance with health & safety and licensing legislation.
  • Engage with guests to enhance their experience – offering menu suggestions, answering drink-related questions and responding to guest feedback.
  • Collaborate with the waiting and kitchen teams to ensure smooth service between the bar and restaurant/lounge areas.
  • Handle cash and card payments accurately, reconcile takings and maintain records as required.
  • Monitor guest ages and ensure responsible serving of alcohol, following licensing rules and hotel policy.
  • Assist with inventory management: receiving deliveries, checking stock levels, rotating stock and alerting management to low-stock items.
  • Support special events or hotel functions (e.g., private hire, weddings, conferences) which may involve extended hours or different service formats.
  • Strive to upsell and promote seasonal cocktails, signature drinks or bar offers to help maximise revenue.

About You

  • Previous experience behind a bar in a hotel or busy venue preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of drinks, cocktails, beers and spirits, and a willingness to learn new recipes.
  • Excellent customer-service skills: friendly, personable, professional.
  • Ability to work under pressure, remain calm and maintain high standards during busy periods.
  • Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
