Hello, we’re Laka. Founded in 2017, Laka set out to transform insurance by connecting passionate cyclists to form a collective and protect their bikes for when things go wrong - a better model for insurance was born. Our model: Laka makes sure everything runs smoothly for The Collective - from exceptionally fast claims, splitting the cost fairly, guaranteeing a maximum price and all the other heavy lifting of a regulated insurance business.
The role is a varied and high-impact role within the Finance team and Ancillary Services team, covering finance operations, insurance recovery, and office support. You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller, Subrogation Lead and Head of People, to ensure financial accuracy, strong cash management, smooth day-to-day operations, and effective subrogation and claims processes.
- Finance Operations
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including bookkeeping, invoicing and payment runs
- Monitor outstanding balances, manage credit control, and maintain bank reconciliations
- Support month-end close, including accruals and prepayments
- Assist with audit preparation and finance process improvements
- Screen and validate subrogation claims, preparing comprehensive claim files
- Liaise with third parties, insurers, legal contacts, and Ancillary Services team to chase recoveries
- Track recoveries, maintain reporting, and support cash recovery forecasting
- Identify and resolve issues that may delay or hinder the subrogation process
- Coordinate company meetings, events, and team socials
- Support onboarding administration and general operational needs
- Assist leadership team with ad hoc tasks

- Fluent in English and ideally French/ German/ Dutch
- 2–5 years’ experience in finance operations, accounts, or administrative roles
- Comfortable managing AP/AR independently and maintaining accurate records
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and proactive problem-solving
- Confident communicator with customers, team members, and external partners
- Exposure to insurance, debt recovery, or subrogation processes (preferred)
- Empathy for customers and understanding of impact when claims occur
- Fast learner, adaptable, and comfortable working in a startup environment
