Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C! The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Inspector to support the successful delivery of the transverse manufacturing scope on the Sizewell C Project. Reporting to the Quality Team Lead, the Quality Inspector will work closely with construction teams, contractors and engineers to ensure all works are delivered in line with specifications, drawings, quality standards and regulatory requirements, supporting right‑first‑time delivery on a nationally important project.

In addition to site‑based activities, the role will have a strong interface with Laing O'Rourke's Transverse Manufacturing operations, ensuring quality assurance is maintained across the full asset lifecycle—from off‑site manufacture through to on‑site installation. This includes reviewing and inspecting factory‑produced civil components, verifying compliance with approved inspection and test plans, and ensuring manufactured elements are delivered to site ready for safe, efficient and compliant installation.

The Quality Inspector will play a key role in maintaining alignment between manufacturing, logistics and site teams, helping to embed digital, modern methods of construction and uphold consistent quality standards across both off‑site and on‑site environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to approved quality control procedures and safety protocols
  • Review and interpret drawings, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and technical specifications to confirm accuracy and compliance
  • Identify, record and report non‑conformances, supporting effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, supervisors and project managers to resolve quality issues and support right‑first‑time delivery
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports and supporting quality documentation
  • Verify that materials, workmanship and completed works meet acceptance criteria prior to handover
  • Participate in site meetings, providing quality input and supporting construction progress discussions
  • Interface with Laing O'Rourke's Transverse Manufacturing facilities to support quality assurance of factory‑manufactured civil components
  • Review manufacturing quality documentation, inspection records and certification to ensure compliance prior to delivery to site
  • Support factory and off‑site inspections in line with approved inspection and test plans
  • Verify that manufactured elements are delivered to site in a compliant condition, ready for safe and efficient installation
  • Ensure effective quality handover between manufacturing, logistics and site construction teams
  • Support the alignment of digital quality records and traceability across off‑site manufacture and on‑site installation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by feeding back quality lessons learned from site into manufacturing processes
  • Support the Quality Team Lead and QA/QC Manager in implementing and maintaining the project quality management system
  • Monitor third‑party inspection activities and review submitted reports
  • Promote quality awareness across the site, supporting teams in understanding and applying QA/QC requirements consistently

What Skills and Experience We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in civil construction quality inspection, ideally on large infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, codes and regulations
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem‑solving capability
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with all levels of the workforce and management
  • Proactive, self‑motivated and able to manage workload independently
  • Experience using quality inspection tools and reporting systems
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site
