The opportunity
Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial delivery of a major UK infrastructure project.
You’ll take responsibility for managing commercial activities across your allocated packages, working closely with project teams, clients and the supply chain to drive commercial performance, manage risk and maximise opportunities.
What will the role look like?
- Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages.
- Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works.
- Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications.
- Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts.
- Managing live subcontracts, including commercial performance, change, valuations, payments, and contractual obligations.
- Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting.
- Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts.
- Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes.
- Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities.
- Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management reports.
- Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage.
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- A degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, with RICS membership desirable but not essential.
- Strong NEC contract knowledge, with experience managing contracts and commercial obligations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage risk while driving commercial performance.
