Expanded Structures is the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub, and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and is currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in East Suffolk.

We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.

What will the role look like?

  • Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages
  • Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works
  • Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications
  • Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts
  • Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting
  • Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts
  • Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes
  • Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities
  • Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management reports
  • Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Degree (or higher) qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • RICS membership is desirable, though not essential.
  • Strong working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts.
  • Experience in direct delivery environments, supporting projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
