Are you a strategic Planning Leader striving for success in the work-winning space?

We are looking for an expert Principal/Regional Project Planner to join our Expanded team on work-winning.

Laing O\’Rourke\’s Expanded Business Group provides comprehensive capabilities in the early construction phases of major projects, offering end-to-end solutions or bespoke services, supported by a central technical design and engineering team. As a Principal Project Planner, you will develop Programme Strategies for clients and apply your knowledge of processes and techniques essential for strategic planning, contributing to project success.

Delivering challenging and dynamic schemes for clients is the ultimate achievement.

What will the role look like?

  1. Ensuring all programmes meet project requirements and developing logical sequences of events to adopt the most economical construction strategies.
  2. Conducting pre-contract planning and work-winning processes to produce bid programmes and related information as part of tender teams.
  3. Analyzing performance, advising the project team on impacts, and recommending improvements.
  4. Contributing to risk, opportunity, and commercial considerations in tender bids.
  5. Presenting time-related data using various techniques, ensuring effective communication and high-quality submissions.
  6. Managing contracts for complex projects through independent processes and systems.
  7. Performing forensic analysis of programme data and building relationships with client teams.
  8. Applying comprehensive contract knowledge to align control measures with risks and optimize commercial opportunities.
  9. Introducing advanced project management techniques within the business for use on complex projects.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • CIOB Membership.
  • Proficiency in modelling, 4D planning, Asta, and P6, preferably at a high standard.
  • Experience with major projects.
  • Ability to analyze and utilize data for reporting and forecasting.
  • Skill in prioritizing tasks and assessing accuracy requirements.
  • Lateral thinking to identify trends and issues in production data.

Leadership Skills

  • Leading the planning function on projects.
  • Resource management, recruitment, development, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Developing business improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining programme and related documentation.
  • Ensuring high-quality and accurate work.
