Senior Estimator – SZC Project (Sizewell C)

Join the exciting journey of one of the UK\’s largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C!

We are in search of a highly motivated and performance-oriented Senior Estimator to contribute to the Civil Works Programme of the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

As a key member of the estimating team, you will work collaboratively with the Lead Estimator and the Head of Estimating to ensure consistency in the estimating approach set out by the client. Your role will involve developing pricing strategies, mentoring junior estimators, and managing stakeholders to produce accurate estimates, including planning and procurement. Additionally, you will present, negotiate, and justify prices in an open and honest manner to senior business leaders and external customers or partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake estimates in accordance with the SZC policies and procedures.
• Review SZC\’s drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment
• Liaise with members of the project team & supply chain to develop and understand methodologies and principles proposed.
• Develop from first principles labour, plant material, subcontract pricing within the Alliance\’s Estimating Software Candy.
• Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value\’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles
• Mentor and support more junior members of the team.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

• Infrastructure Main Contractor, ideally in the civil engineering market, would be desirable.
• Commercial or operational background
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Outstanding client-facing/communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and similar software.
